    • Metropolitan will move back toward more central control through the training of new employees, Mr. Kamen said.
      • In the company’s sales force of 13,000, turnover is high enough to require the training of about 4,000 to 5,000 new people each year. Under the new policies, training will still take place locally, but will follow more closely a model designed by headquarters.

  • Many people increasingly like the idea of paying taxes now on savings for retirement knowing they will not have to pay taxes on the growth or the distribution of that savings.
  • The most common financial vehicles that do that are a Roth IRA, tax-free municipal bonds, and cash value life insurance.
  • ⇒ I like to say it this way, if you were a farmer, would you rather pay tax on the seed or the harvest?
    • I think almost every farmer would rather pay tax on the seed. It works the same way with money.

1980 1116 - NP - Fort Lauderdale News - A.L. Williams Grows Despite Controversy, by Karen Southwick -

  • Better Business bureaus in Birmingham, Ala. and Dallas, Texas have issued reports questioning A.L. Williams' sales and recruitment techniques. Dallas BBB staff members who attended Williams seminars questioned several aspects, "including misleading use of third-party (non-industry) sources, incomplete information concerning the company's Investment programs and  the representation that the market cannot be saturated by overrecruited.
  • Nationwide, according to their own figures. A.L. Williams has grown from 950 licensed agents in 1977 to 2.800 in 1978. 7,000 last year and 32.000 this year.  "It appears he (Williams) has taken the insurance replacement concept and combined that with a pyramid marketing approach." said Jack Jansen, certified financial planner with Waddell and Reed Inc.
  • Fitzpatrick said modified term is generally presented as best life insurance product available to prospective customers because of its flexibility and low cost. But he said customers are presented the Williams plan and asked to compare it to what they have. "If ours is better, we want compete with your business," is what customers are told, He said.
